AtSource Verification Programme Manager

Role overview
This position will work with members of the AtSource team to continually develop and improve the AtSource proprietary sustainability standard and system, with specific responsibility for the development and implementation of the AtSource verification programme. The role sits within the AtSource team and requires close collaboration with Olam global Business Units (product teams) and Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability leads. 

Role responsibilities

  • Define the strategy and roadmap for AtSource third-party verification
  • Support the development of the AtSource sustainability and verification offer across Olam products and origins
  • Lead the design of the AtSource verification system and update documentation accordingly
  • Incorporate customer and other key stakeholders’ (e.g. third-party assurance companies, Olam Business Units) expectations and requirements into the AtSource verification system
  • Work with AtSource team members to ensure consistent application of core requirements such as traceability, chain of custody, sustainability assessment and data reporting 
  • Maintain a deep understanding of Olam global supply chains across a variety of products to inform verification system design and evolution
  • Handle disputes, grievances and complaints related with the AtSource verification system 
  • Approval and oversight of third-party assurance companies operating across global supply chains
  • Oversight of AtSource’s verification management partner, who provides general coordination and updates on audits and trains third-party assurance companies
  • Train relevant internal stakeholders on the AtSource verification system and procedures
  • Manage supply chain auditing schedules to ensure compliance with relevant scheme standards
  • Work with third-parties and internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate action plans are documented and delivered within agreed timescales to address non-compliances
  • Work with internal stakeholders and third-party assurance companies to manage audit planning in the most efficient way
  • Support scheme benchmarking efforts, with a particular focus on verification aspects
  • Ensure integration of relevant E.U., national, and international regulations into all elements of scheme design

Person requirements
This person will balance commercial and sustainability priorities appropriately and bring technical credibility to decision making, balancing strategy and vision with practical operational project management. The individual will need to influence internal stakeholders, working with business units to articulate the commercial opportunities offered by AtSource.  They will be ambitious, self-directed, have a hands-on mentality and an entrepreneurial spirit, and be driven to create change through engaging and enabling others. They will communicate exceptionally well and be able to influence without authority. 

Qualification and experience

  • At least 5 years experience working for private or public sustainability schemes or similar initiatives 
  • Good knowledge of certification / verification and understanding of the current issues and discussions pertaining to sustainability standards
  • Experience of working in a programme management role within a global corporate or voluntary sustainability standard scheme, or as an auditor for sustainability schemes
  • Expertise in sustainability issues in an agricultural context, particularly relating to smallholder production
  • Strong project management skills with a robust track record of process design and implementation
  • Familiarity with sustainability benchmarking and equivalence processes
  • Ability to influence multi-stakeholders without formal authority
  • Pragmatic and commercially sensitive 
  • IT proficiency, particularly data management and analysis 
  • Excellent teamwork skills and prior experience working within an international team
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with Board level individuals and business leaders to communicate the AtSource business model
  • Ability to self-start, using initiative to deliver agreed tasks
  • Willingness to travel internationally, particularly within Olam’s in-field operations and central offices
  • Near-native English speaker and writer, ideally also fluent in French and/or Spanish
